Firstly we are lucky enough to be less than 2 minutes walk from The Garden gate at Sissinghurst Castle. We can often be heard saying at the breakfast table that there are so may places to visit within half an hour of The Farmhouse.
The National Trust owns a variety of places in Kent,Sussex and Surrey, including historic houses,famous gardens,a castle,a lighthouse and a mill- the time periods ranging from medieval to the 20th century.
There are numerous connections to famous names from politics,literature,horticulture and the arts, including Sir Winston Churchill at Chartwell, Rudyard Kipling at Bateman's, Dame Ellen Terry at Smallhythe Place and Virginia Woolf at Monk's House. All of these are within easy reach and many can be combined together for a great day out.
